Belford Properties held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Sun Towers 1 right in the heart of Metrotown on Friday, October 1, 2021.
In attendance included the City of Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley, Councillor James Wang and Councillor Mike Hillman. Belford thank these esteemed guests for championing the Belford vision of building dream homes that promote wellness and transform lives.
Located at 4458 Beresford Street, Sun Towers is located in a traffic-calmed area within walking distance to Metropolis at Metrotown. The manicured sidewalks in the neighbourhood are lined with boutique shops and public art. Central Park, Deer Lake Park and Burnaby Lake Park are only minutes away.
The 41-storey Sun Towers 1 is consisted of 285 units, with seven storeys and 107 units reserved for commercial uses in retail, office, education and hospitality. There will also be a spacious daycare facility operated by Wonderworld Montessori Academy in the building so that residents get priority access to quality childcare.
Three storeys and 24,000 sq ft of space will be dedicated to the Solaris Club, a range of wellness amenities including a 6,700 sq ft roof garden, 60-ft indoor swimming pool, hot tub, badminton court, golf course, lounge, gym, sauna and steam room. Los Angeles artist Cliff Garten’s “Bright Waters,” a 35-ft-long sculpture with two 11-ft-tall illuminated statues, stands as the centrepiece of Sun Towers.
Sun Towers 1 is the first of five residential towers that was completed in Metrotown by Belford. There are two other rental buildings that Belford hopes to develop within the area. If realized, they will create over 1,300 homes and 388 rental units in Burnaby.
“We are proud to be a part of the thriving City of Burnaby,” said VP Marketing Leo Sun, “and we look forward to playing a key role in the evolution of the Burnaby community over the next decade. Within every detail of our projects, our goal is to inspire the city’s residents to ‘live well’ and ‘be well,’ both of which are in line with our company mission.”
Sun Towers 2, the tower adjacent to Sun Towers 1, will consist of 26 storeys above ground level. Construction is underway, and the estimated completion is in late 2022.
